They give the humans whatever they desired, the humans completed various tasks for them, and then they went their separate ways.
And if the humans failed to complete their half? Well, it was right there in the contract!
They would be their next meal!
Why act so shocked and scared when they came to collect? They knew the risks. They knew the consequences of failure and yet shook their hands anyway.
Really, it was quite frustrating. No matter, they had a meal waiting for them now. Begging would do nothing to appease their appetite.
“Mommy? Daddy?”
The room froze, everything going silent.
Or, Phil and Techno find a child and remember their lonely friend, Wilbur. The boy doesn't have proper parents, anyway. Why not kill two birds with one stone?

The ground shook beneath him as the beast rushed to him. It bent down, teeth on display.
Tommy’s eyes shut and he tensed. At least make it fast. Don't play with your food, please.
Suddenly, the weight was lifted. He felt himself rise, the neck of his suit pulling on him slightly. He forced his eyes open, widening as his body floated further away from the ground.
Did he die…? Was this him leaving his body?
A rumble filled his ears, shaking his core. The boy turned his head, making eye contact with the beast who–
Had his suit in its mouth?
The creature made another sound. Was it… purring? Growling?
Tommy’s head was pounding. He tried to grasp onto some kind of sense, but found none. Then, the creature began to run.
Tommy squeaked as he was jostled, the creature bounding through the forest at a speed he didn't think was capable for such a large beast.
But he supposed it made sense. Four legs and a thin body. It was like a giant lizard.
Or, Wilbur goes to his home planet for a special adoption ritual in which they find babies born from plants. Tommy crashes in, and finds himself confused for one of Wilbur's species own

In all Wilbur had 39 dollars and 56 cents. Enough for now. He grabbed a small bag, said his goodbyes to Tommy then made his way outside and to the small stables, quickly getting his horse ready.

Wilbur is woken by the sound of knocking. The sound is frantic, pulling him towards the door.
He pulls his front door open with one hand, the other rubbing at his eye. Ranboo is standing on his porch, pajamas rumpled, hair a mess and tail puffed up and swishing anxiously behind himself. The eye that can produce tears, the right side, has streaks where his skin has burnt under it. The sight washes away any lingering fatigue, something ugly and scared making it's way through his veins, making him dizzy.
"Ranboo?" Wilbur chokes out, ushering the boy inside. Before he can close the door he hears a distant, terrified scream.
Tommy.
Or; Tommy gets kidnapped, Wilbur takes it very, very personally.

He wriggles around until he is staring at Wilbur, preparing to attack him, only to pause when he gets a look at the man.
Wilbur has grey furs. Which means he has grey hairs.

Wilbur rolled his eyes. “Fine, fine. The moment things start looking bad, though, we’re out of here. If you feel any bad vibes from anyone here, you tell me, okay?”
