“My claim to Camelot’s throne,” Uther threw back, face growing more red as Arthur looked between his parents in utter bewilderment. Merlin didn’t blame him. He had envisioned Uther and Ygraine’s love story to be more… well, less based in war and battles.
Ygraine’s eyes narrowed as she grabbed a goblet of wine and threw it in Uther’s face. A few of the guards shifted, but Uther only raised a hand to pause them, spitting out the wine with furious eyes.
“You,” Ygraine said coldly. “Are unworthy to sit upon a stool, let alone a throne.”
From a few feet away, Balinor scoffed as he sipped from his own goblet. “I kind of like having her as a hostage, Uther. She livens up the place.”

When all the death eaters broke out of Azkaban, they woke a certain prisoner who has been in there for a very long time. Practically as long as the prison has been built, maybe even longer. Was he put there because he committed some atrocious crime? No, nothing so dark and dreary.
Immortality to some seems like a blessing; some people strive for it, kill for it even. But some see it as a curse of an endless life. Some people wish they were just normal human beings. Living a 100-year lifespan. Maybe even the wizarding 200-year lifespan, but no more. One man wishes for death. But could never grasp it. Until he meets the master of it. Or at least the soon-to-be master.
Coming into a new world with Dark Lords and young children fighting in a war, they need not fight. An old sorcerer joins the battle.

If you haven’t heard of it, seriously go check it out, it’s amazing. Essentially, after breaking out of prison, Dream fulfills his promise to kill and revive Tommy over and over again. When he’s done, Tommy isn’t the same. His hair is pure white from being revived so many times, he doesn’t speak, and he no longer reacts to anything, even pain.

Spider had always been different from the other humans.
Ever since Mo'at had first met the boy, who stood between Kiri and Lo'ak, clutching both of their hands in his much smaller ones with a shy smile on his face behind the clear glass of his mask, she had known this to be true.
The scientists, even those with Dreamwalkers, forever had a lingering clumsiness when navigating Eywa'eveng. They lacked the balance and stamina needed to run along the large, winding branches that served as the forests' pathways, and they hadn't the strength required to climb the trees and vines that acted as ladders for the Na'vi.
There was something about their spirits that felt...lacking. It did not make them any less of a people, nor did it mean they were not treasured friends and allies, but they always simply felt so...separate. Wooden beads amongst stone.
Except for Spider.
Or Spider was never kidnapped, but neither did he leave the clan alongside the Sully family. There's only one person who feels their absence as keenly as he does. This changes many things.

Spider keeps telling him that Eywa has a plan. Lo'ak isn't so sure about that.
He wonders if it really is Spider speaking, or Kiri through him though. He wonders if Spider actually believes the things he says. He concludes that it doesn't really matter and he smiles and nods and says 'of course she will. She's Eywa' and Spider smiles too.
He can feel the burn of Quaritch's gaze on his neck and when he looks at the reflection in the window across their bed he can see the dim glim of a yellow eye.

He ducked behind a tree trunk once he’d put some distance between himself and the group, pressing his back against the bark as he took deep steady breaths. He waited for the shouting to start, for his name to echo through the trees. But when that didn’t happen, he reached up for the first tree branch above his head.
He used to think that he was born to climb. Back when he was a kid and didn’t know much beyond the fence of Hell’s Gate, he spent every day climbing the trees at the edge of the boundary. He climbed until it became second nature, and he’d reach for footholds on instinct. Now, he shimmied up the young tree with ease, the wet moss a bit tricky to navigate but he managed it.
He crossed between treetops once he was high enough, watching as the recoms finally pulled their friend free. A murmur shot up between them, and their heads turned quickly.
They were looking for him.
