    Three months into the five year mission, after the events surrounding Marcus and Khan, the Enterprise is called into the help evacuate a planet being hit by destructive radioactive flares from the nearby sun, during the mission Jim is exposed to the radiation but rather than dying he experiences some incredible side effects. The radiation begins to affect the remnants of Khan's DNA that lingers inside him, and upon returning to Earth for tests he discovers that it is not just his body that is changing, it is his feelings too. And they are only amplified when he comes face to face with Khan himself. But what else is lingering behind the scenes? Threatening to tear everything down.

    Jim Kirk is a small-town smartass from Iowa trying to find some purpose in life by roadtripping across America. Along the way he picks up a soft-spoken boy from Boston with a complicated relationship with his parents- not to mention a talent with a chessboard- and a good ol’ country doctor from Georgia, still bitter about losing the custody battle.

    They bump into some others along the way. The beautiful singing voice in the motel room next to theirs belongs to an adventurous hitchhiker with several languages under her belt. The night shift mechanic who tows the remains of Jim’s first car comes along for the ride. His roommate would rather put his skills to the test driving cross-country than delivering pizzas. And the Russian whiz kid they pick up in Colorado is the only one who can read the goddamn maps.
