Voldemort stared at her.
“... Is this some sort of trick?” he asked softly.
“No". Her voice was flat, lifeless. “You already killed James... If you let me live, then you can have Harry”.
Voldemort’s lip curled - not in amusement, but disgust. His own mother had died for him. Pathetic, yes, sentimental and foolish - but she had chosen to die so that he could live. Lily Potter wasn’t even choosing to care. Surely the child of prophecy deserved a better mother than this! Even he could give the boy to a better family to be raised right!
Voldemort slowly reached down and picked up the child.
He was still staring at him. He was still oddly silent. His eyes were still the colour of the Killing curse and brimming with power.
Yes, Voldemort decided, that was exactly what he’d do.
"You belong to me now" he whispered.
And with a crack like thunder, he turned on the spot, vanishing into the night.Or, the one where Harry Potter is raised by the Lestranges and it goes more or less how you would expect.

Sukuna is in prison. Again. Every few years they round him up on the charges that'll stick and throw him into Kuchu, a prison dedicated to holding the worst criminals the country can offer. Close to a decade in and out, Sukuna has carved out his corner, and with six months to a year, he's content to be left alone. Then a new cook starts. A boy with bright eyes and an even brighter smile. Yuuji, a newly minted chef who has taken this job because he wants to help people, because he believes in reformation, even for the worst of them. Yuuji, who even starts to worm his way under Sukuna's skin.
But Yuuji isn't the only change at Kuchu, and Sukuna isn't the only one who can feel it. There's something malicious forming at Kuchu. There's a murmuring in the walls, an uprising in the wind. With enemies inside and out, Sukuna can't help but wait for the other shoe to drop. Good. Things were starting to become boring around here.

Yet something about the child, quiet and clingy, unsettles him for a reason he can't explain. Against his better judgment, Sukuna takes the boy in, convincing himself it’s only temporary. Though Sukuna doesn’t believe in fate, he can’t shake the feeling that taking the boy in has set something into motion. For the first time, Sukuna isn’t just surviving — he’s looking after someone other than himself. It’s an odd feeling, but maybe, just maybe, it’s not so bad.

Even if that reason was nothing more than a whim, it made more sense than the King of Curses stepping in and sparing Yuji's life out of the goodness of whatever passed as a heart within his chest.
"No." The King of Curses crossed his lower set of arms while a hand made gestures to coincide with his reasoning. "The commotion was bothersome. I did not anticipate crossing paths with a funeral procession on a road this remote."
"I see."
What a twisted joke.
❤ Yuji is attacked only a day into the most important pilgrimage of this era. Ryomen Sukuna intervenes, sparing his life and even offering to replace the guards he lost. Why he would do this is unclear, but Yuji was in no position to argue.
