Summary
“My humble apologies, Imperator,” Hysilens says, her voice rasping unpleasantly—still so unaccustomed to the human tongue. She clears her throat, pressing a hand to her chest. “To see that fish in the blackness where the sun’s rays dare not shine… it is as a star; radiant in the depths of the sea. Not unlike your blazing light, which guided me to shore.”
Cerydra takes a long sip of her glass, only to fall silent. Golden ichor drips from the corner of her mouth, and Hysilens resists the urge to reach out, and…
“Were you truly so allured?” Cerydra murmurs, shattering the silent moment almost off-handedly—which is strange—no action of the Imperator's is impromptu in the slightest. She is an angler, a chessmaster. She is patient, composed, and she does not err lightly.
But Cerydra blinks as she looks to Hysilens, as if she too is struck with momentary surprise at her own tongue. Her breath is sweet, and warm against her siren’s scales. And Hysilens nods.
“Yes,” she whispers, for none but her light to hear. “I was.”
"Twist the knife, Helektra."

Summary
“Hence the dorm?”
“Hence the dorm,” Eula echoes. Her hand grips hers so tightly she must not realize she’s doing it. “Anyway, I’m sure you’ve discussed your arrangements already, what with your traveling and all, but please be mindful of that. Also, that girl cannot cook to save her life, so I certainly hope you’re prepared to pick up the slack in that regard—”
“Eula,” Lumine interrupts as gently as she can. “Take a breath. Where are you going with this?”
She doesn’t take Lumine’s advice. “What I'm saying is, you had better take care of her Lumine, or else—”
A choked cry echoes across the dim living room.
“Or else, I—”
In which Lumine finally meets Amber's best friend, and things just sort-of snowball from there.

Summary
The Shogun tends to agree with Sasayuri. There is value in such a thing as pride—there is honor in it. To speak for oneself and be heard, to be respected because it is what you demand. What you deserve.
(The Shogun does not like to make a habit of taking sides in arguments that exist only in her creator’s memories. But in nearly four-hundred years of solitary meditation when all tasks before her are complete, there is only so much left for her to ponder. They shall not impede her duties any further than she has already permitted.)
Hers is Eternity perfected. Were the one within’s memories contrary to that mandate, they would have been removed prior to her creation and ascension.
(This is what she tells herself, at least.)
Regardless. She cannot seem to relinquish the thought of how very quiet that wingless tengu was before their father.
Something about it, something she cannot put to name, makes her sick.
In which the Raiden Shogun seeks to understand her cherished tengu general-to-be (and perhaps a little about herself, while she's at it).

“…You want me to take on retainers?”
“We heard the Hoshidans never allowed you any of your own,” Camilla said, her scowl shifting effortlessly into a gentle smile. “So, what better way to welcome you into our family now, hm?”
Azura’s gaze ever so slightly narrowed as she glanced across the meeting table to Camilla’s side. In reply, she received a quick, somewhat-guilty wave from Corrin.

“…How exactly do you know what you're doing?” she eventually says.
“I used to reassemble Seymour for fun whenever you visited, don't you—” Furina freezes, “—remember?”
“No,” the girl who she keeps forgetting isn’t really Mary-Ann spits. “I don’t.”
The first meeting between a marionette and a puppet.

n. - spirit, soul, the breath of life
“You and I are the same, you know,” the Goddess says, and She continues before Sara can muster the words to interrupt. “Too bound up in duty and devotion to see the truth before our eyes. In love with the idea of love, but unwilling to be loved. You will never give up on her, Sara. But you gave up on yourself long ago.”
Sara breathes her last, and awakens before a Throne. Day 2 - Reincarnation.

Summary
Zero blinks at her, pink-red eyes incredulous. “I said don’t.”
Accord’s gray-green ones stare back, confused. “Huh? But I didn’t say— oh.” Her mouth slams shut.
“No, go on,” Zero prods, sitting up enough to loom when she leans closer. “What were you going to say, Accord?”
“Uhm, it’s nothing, really!” Accord laughs softly, cheeks flushed. “I was just observing that you looked really cu—”
At that moment, the door slides open. Accord walks in.
“Oh, hi Zero,” she says. She walks past her towards the other end of the car, then freezes mid-step. “Wait—”

“What are you whining about?”
“If I do this, I usually wake up faster,” the girl murmurs. “I don’t want to be here.”
“You don’t like it?” she says, glaring down upon her. “I think Lythos is rather beautiful like this.”
“This is my home. I— I shouldn’t be afraid of my home.”
“Are you afraid of this? Or,” she says, and as she lowers herself her fingertips ghost the pale fabric of the girl’s dress, “are you afraid of me?”
“Ah!” the girl shrieks, collapsing back onto her hands as if burned. Wet violet eyes meet hers, wide with shock.
“Ssh,” she coos, staring back unblinkingly. “You don’t need to be scared. It’s only us!”
After the war, Veyle must once more confront that which she fears most—herself.

“As Ei’s older sister—”
“Only by a matter of moments. It’s effectively meaningless,” a memory of Ei’s voice echoed in her mind.
“—I would like to officially give you both my blessing.”
Sara blinked. “Your blessing?”
“Yes!” Makoto beamed. “I couldn’t be more happy for you two.”
Sara was absolutely missing something.

Summary
“…What?” Sara breathed, in a very small voice.
The expression Ei wore—the emotion written plainly across her face, was equal parts sympathetic, and…
She tried to ignore the part of her that said ‘pitying’.
“Miko told me I should tell you the truth,” Ei murmured, “but I did not think…”
“Your Excellency, please,” Sara gasped, “I don’t— allow me to explain—”
“I am so very sorry, Sara.”
And in those words was the answer to every question Sara was too afraid to ask.
“She’s not a person, Sara.”
“She’s nothing more than a hollow shell, Sara.”
“She can’t love you back, Sara.”
In which Kujou Sara learns the truth, and refuses to accept it.

Summary
The Plane of Euthymia did not change.
After all, so long as Ei was here, she did not change. Here, she was wholly and utterly removed from the world beyond. Immutable. Eternal.
But, then again. Not all of herself was actually in the Plane of Euthymia, was it?
Perhaps that served as reason enough for the incongruity that had stirred her from her meditation.
There was a warm fluttering in her chest.
In which, between the God of Eternity and her artificial vessel, Ei somehow manages to be the more emotionally constipated of the two.

Summary
“Beruka, dear,” Camilla smiled as she stepped across the threshold into the dining room. “Who’s your—?”
She glanced over Beruka, across the table, and her breath caught in her throat.
She’d cut her hair.
Pale gray locks that had once swept down her shoulders now only came just past her ears. The same black headband Xander had gifted her remained, though it now held a bright-pink cherry blossom in place.
Camilla said as much, frozen in the doorway.
“You cut your hair.”
“Oh!” Corrin laughed lightly, running a hand through the silver strands. “Yeah, I did. It surprised Beruka too, actually.”
Years after the war, Camilla reunites with a familiar face.

Summary
Though she cannot feel boredom, the inactivity has begun to fray at the edges of her circuits regardless. Eternity is not yet hers to enact, and so she attempts to satisfy her restlessness with meditation.
The only other act available to her is slumber, and she does not sleep. She does not sleep, for when she sleeps, she dreams. And when she dreams—
“Please don’t tell me you mean to stay here all day, Ei.”
“The sakura truly has bloomed beautifully this year, Ei.”
“Won’t you smile for me, Ei?”
“One last time, before I go?”
She blinks. There is a harsh pressure behind her eyes, and she raises one hand to be rid of it, yet her bindings limit her range of motion. Her breathing is coming in rapid gasps, yet nothing has occurred that would warrant such an increase in adrenaline. How strange.
Four times that the Raiden Shogun does not sleep, and one time she does.

A Fire Emblem Fates rewrite meets Awakening crossover.

Summary
Claw-marked stone eye received from Gurranq, Beast Clergyman.
It is said to tremble when near Deathroot.
The murky violet iris writhes as if alive.
He smells her before he sees her.
“Tarnished?” he says, his gravelly voice echoing down the hall. “No…”
Melina halts mid-step, halfway between beast and grace. The further she is from the latter, the weaker she will be. If he comes for her, she may be unable to cheat Destined Death again.
She swallows what lingering embers of old pride might remain.
“Hello, Uncle.”
The sun sets on the Age of the Erdtree. Melina seeks to reclaim what is hers.

Summary
“She’s quiet tonight,” Beruka murmured, the first sign of life from the other girl in hours. She leaned against the armchair’s side, axe clutched in a downward grip. Were it anyone else, Selena would have assumed she’d been sleeping.
“Yeah,” Selena murmured, taking another sip from her mug. While the castle might’ve known silent nights more often than not, Lady Camilla… didn’t. It was nice to know she was getting the rest she deserved for once.
Selena tilted her head. “What are you looking at?”
“Nothing,” Beruka said, turning away. “If I mention you’re smiling, you’ll stop.”
“Well—!” Selena exclaimed, mug sloshing as she sat up in her seat, bit her tongue, and continued with a hissed tone and a scowl. “Telling me like that kinda defeats the point, don’t you think?”
On a silent Nohrian night, Beruka and Selena stand guard over their Lady.

Summary
Still, the Shogun has not moved. She has, however, seen enough. “I am not Ei.”
Yae’s hand tightens around her shoulder, almost imperceptibly, but not to the Shogun. She laughs again, but it is shorter, with more of a weighty quality to it (or perhaps hollow?) The two descriptors are contradictory, so the Shogun supposes it must be one or neither. She has never thought on people having different laughs before.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Yae smiles. It’s toothier than the last one. “First of all, even if you intend to stay cooped up all night, you wouldn’t dare miss my birthday. And secondly, if you weren’t Ei,” a shiver passes through her body, and she clings tighter. Perhaps it is another symptom of her condition. “Well, I’d be talking to some… corpse-puppet wearing a mockery of her likeness. Hardly even a person, really. And,” she leans close, murmuring sweetly into her ear, “you are a person, aren’t you, Ei?”
One hundred years into her rule, the Shogun receives a visitor.
