Hawks didn’t expect this day to turn out like this.
No, this morning when he left for his patrol he expected this day to be smooth sailing.
Rock his 8 hour shift- the shortest he had this week- and then at the end of the day a warm meal.And maybe a certain villain would swing by…
Needless to say nothing turned out the way hawks had planned. 11 hours later and he was still very much not finished with his shift, soaked by the rain poring down since the last hour and bleeding.

Hawks’ face flushed again. “Wasn’t that bad this morning.” He paused, mustering up a loose smirk. “You worried about me or something?”
Dabi snorted. “Don’t flatter yourself.”
“‘S just a cold, hot stuff, don’t worry,” Hawks said, flashing a charming smile that didn’t reach his tired eyes. He began to unlace his boots, but his fingers were numb and unwieldy, and his balance was off. As Dabi opened his mouth to say something—probably something unhelpful, something stupid and unnecessary—the hero crumpled to the floor.or: hawks doesn't know how to take care of himself, and dabi's too stupid to let him try.
