Eclipse knew that after last year's birthday being ruined by Henry's manic blow up the memory would likely be at the forefront of Charlie's mind this year, so he and Roxy made a decision: They'd do their damn best to make her 12th birthday so great that she wouldn't even have the time to think about last year or about her dad. Unfortunately, since the kids were homeschooled they didn't have any close friends in their own dimension. He was going to have to outsource some of the guests for this party.

Summary

This is genuinely such a good story. I especially love the kind of nuance it gives with the perspective of the war coming solely from the canonical “bad guys side” so we kind of get almost unreliable narrator bits here and there due to the personal biases of the characters
Not to mention Silverbell’s ENTIRE character arc throughout the fic was just chefs kiss. I adore how Silverbell’s feelings on how his life ended up going are still kind of left a little bit in the air. Like yes he doesn’t regret choosing love, but there’s also still the ever-lingering fact that the life he ended up with was never what he had wanted. He just accepted it.
