Summary

Mark is 17. He was causing trouble, Cecil fears this is not entirely unusual, but when a teenager retreats into his hospital room and whines or growls at anyone who tries to get him out, then the alpha in charge must take action. Mark needed an authority figure to make him feel some protection. He needed an alpha. God help and forgive Cecil, but he believed Mark needed him.
Mark is 19. His cheeks are flushed. Cecil hands him the pillows, obeying the kid's wish, saying nothing. Mark doesn't want to talk. He wants comfort. He smells like a new, fresh fruit, something that comes from beyond the planet, stardust. A young omega seeking comfort from the worst alpha he could have chosen.
Mark is 21. He with all his strength, with all the times he tried to impose himself on Cecil, fails at the simple task of mustering the courage to beg for what he wanted. He looks imploringly at Cecil, begging him for anything that'll calm the chaos in his head. Cecil smells like the kind of alpha Mark needs, and he throws his head back, ready to be marked.
Or: Three nests. Three canon divergences. Three times where Cecil and Mark build a nest trying to find an answer to the emotion that arises in between.

Cecil ignores the comment and instead grips the remote tightly before taking it out of his pocket and setting it on the table. “Do you know what a contingency plan is?”
“Uh—”
“I make plans for every event I can think of. I hear whispers of a concern and I make plans to shut that concern down. I don’t believe that being too proactive is a possibility. Which means: I make plans for the possibility that our heroes go rogue or decide to flip to the other side.”
“What does that remote do?” Mark asks.

Summary
It's okay. Cecil is a professional, he's a grown man, a trained government agent who's almost a senior citizen. He can handle this. But why couldn't Mark be a cat like him? It would have been easier.
There is a good way, and a bad way to train a puppy. Cecil is no expert, but internally he organizes his own list.
Number one: You have to be firm with him. Dogs are uncontrolled, wild, playful creatures that all the time want to be in control, but you must have control over them with a firm leash.
Number two: You have to give them treats. Just as they need a strong character, they're so clumsy and sensitive that they require constant stimulation. Give your puppy rewards to indicate when he's doing a good job, and discover the fruits of that good behavior when he begs for praise and treats.
And number three: Fuck your puppy hard, dirty, and properly until you have him cumming all over the blankets saying he can't take it anymore. Of course this last point is reserved for him, for the personal care of his puppy, Mark Grayson.
Or, Invincible, and everything is the same, except that Mark is a dog and Cecil is a cat.
