Summary
Satoru was on his knees, palms digging into his face. His fingernails dragged down the skin under his eyes, red lines blooming. His breathing came in ragged gasps, small and animal. He was whispering something over and over. Too fast to catch.
She dropped to his side. “Satoru—”
He jerked at her voice, head snapping up. His eyes shone like cracked glass, cursed energy crawling out of him in hair-thin tendrils that made the air hum. Tears streaked down his face, mingling with thin trickles of blood from where his nails had broken skin.
“Get them out,” he hissed. His little voice was raw, shredded. “Get them out, get them out, get them out—”

Summary
And when Satoru thinks of his mother, he cries.
He’s not sure why. But he does, and that fact alone is enough to make him feel some kind of embarrassment.
He knows there’s no real age requirement or limitation to properly exercise empathy, but 16 felt a little too old to be crying about his “mommy.” Still, that doesn’t disregard the fact that he still does.
She didn’t leave—she’s just distant. In fact, her physical presence still lingers in the house that he’s no longer invited to. Quiet and subdued.
He thinks his mother is just inherently reserved. A conclusion he came to during his formative years. Six, possibly eight.
~*~
Satoru takes a step forward, his voice devoid of any discernible emotion . "You don’t know what it’s like to be me, Shoko.""And whose fucking fault is that?"

Summary
“So,” he murmured, just loud enough for Satoru to hear, “they’re shipping you off to Jujutsu Technical?”
Satoru narrowed his eyes. “Who told you that?”
Naoya let out a short laugh, tugging at a loose thread of his kimono sleeve with an exaggerated kind of care.
“Don’t be stupid, Gojo. Everyone knows. It’s not like we run in some massive social circle.” His gaze slid toward Satoru, mouth curling into a smirk. “And I doubt your clan would let you roam free without a leash. A school’s the perfect excuse.” He gave him a sidelong look. Cocking his head, mock-thoughtful. “Guess that makes you a very well-bred dog huh.”

Summary
“He’s small,” Shoko said, frowning slightly as she crouched down, the gravel crunching under her boots.
“Well, yeah, Shoko,” Satoru scoffed, standing behind her with his hands stuffed into his coat pockets. “He’s a child. They tend to be compact.”
She ignored him, eyes narrowed slightly as she crouched, inspecting the boy in front of her like he might start evaporating if she blinked too fast.

Summary
It wasn’t a real ceremony.
Shoko’s parents failed to attend because she had asked them not to. Satoru’s parents had no intention of being present in the first place.
There was no crowd, no confetti, no folding chairs lined up under a stage like the kind he had seen in those American movies Shoko used to force Suguru to watch because Satoru found most, if not all movies to be painfully boring in general. “Why watch something interesting when I could just do something interesting.”
The sun started to push through the clouds, faint but steady.
All they had was a rain-slick courtyard and two folding tables shoved under an awning. Yaga along witOne of the older administrators handed out certificates printed on plain office paper, reading a speech off a clipboard that was half-hearted and riddled with typos.
It was over in less than ten minutes.
Which made complete sense considering only Satoru and Shoko were graduating.

Summary
“How long have you been thinking about this?” Gojo was careful with her tape, the film. Teasing his pinky in, his nail digging through intestine. “Could have just asked.”
She wouldn’t. She’d always wait it out.Bookmarked by WISEDUCKY

Summary
"Ijichi!?" Satoru deadpanned as his friend fixed the bow-tie around his neck. "Ijichi of all fucking people?!"
Satoru didn’t find a tie necessary for graduation.
He didn’t find it necessary for any occasion actually.
But especially considering the fact that his graduating class consisted all of three people, the decision to write the occasion off as informal wasn’t particularly difficult.
In all honestly he had considered skipping the entire event all together, finding amusement in horror that would be both flashed and shared across the faces of his parents and sensei alike. Plus the smirk that would be sported by his two classmates acted as enough motivation in of itself.
However that was until Shoko had invited herself into his dorm one night. Small box in hand that, after tearing the wrapping paper to shreds, contained a small yellow tie. Silk by the feel of it. With her quote saying “I’ve always liked the color on you.”
