God
A fic so full of pure, wholesome love. So soft. I’ve never read about a relationship as healthy as this one. I’ve been craving a fic that could make me cry and I found it in this gentle work. Author’s writing is so lovely and poetic. I don’t know how to describe how wise the writing sounded. Mature and hopeful. The doodles at the end of each chapter was such a pleasant surprise and they brought such joy. The art style was so adorable and I cried when I saw the last one. First time I’ve wanted to keep up with an author and anticipate future works.

Summary

A canon AU in which a pining Merlin is cursed to see Arthur’s dreams every night, Gaius is of no help whatsoever, and Kilgharrah thinks it’s all rather hilarious. Little do any of them know, this minor inconvenience (though neither Merlin or Arthur would call it that) is exactly what they need to ignite a long-awaited spark of change, altering the course of everyone’s lives in the process.

Finished Chp 20 a couple mins ago. I had to take a moment to process it all. As I’m writing this it’s 1:28 am Nov 26 2022, but I’ve yet to finished all 24 chps that are published as of now. I wanted to make this bookmark with the chp still fresh in my mind. I had to step away for a bit it was so intense god. I can’t describe the way I felt other than breathless. Like a statue I could only keep reading and let it all hit me at once cuz I didn’t want to break the momentum of the chp with my ramblings bf it was over. God it was so heavy they just hit you with angst continuously without giving you a moment to breathe. God the reveal of both Arthur and Merlin’s secrets in the same chp was hell to read, but dear god was it good. One of the if not the best panic attacks I’ve ever read. Every paragraph was so well written and articulated. Not once did the author’s skills start to lack dear lord I am impressed. As I write this just know this note can not nor will it ever properly convey what I felt as and when I finished that chp. The impression it left on me was severe. I’m terrified for what’s to come I even took a peek at the new two chps in hopes of quelling my anxiety, but to no avail. I am however very excited god this author is truly something so well done I am extremely impressed by their skills and how well they captured Merlin’s character lord. His dilemma as he’s told of Arthur’s sins and being confronted with what the man he loves has done to people like him. Innocent people who’s only crime was being born with magic. For him to just standby and watch the carnage God. How badly he wanted to get away from him god they did such a good job conveying Merlin’s absolute horror at the mere sight of Arthur and the flashes of Arthur’s nightmares that he got as he panicked was amazing. The sensory overload was done to perfection omg. This note is getting long and I need to accept that no matter how hard I try no amount of words can convey how much I love that Chp and they emotions it made me feel. I’ll continue with the fic now.
Alright 3:11 same date I just finished Chp 24 which is the most recent chp. Easily EASILY one of the best fics I’ve ever read god the other chps are very well written and although for me they do not compare to chp 20-23 I still loved it. The angst arc has to easily be my fav part of this fic surprisingly. Beautifully done also I love Galel hes so funny lmao and very relatable. Chp 24 was vry cute and I’m quite relieved and happy that they are on good terms again. Glad to see that after a year the author’s writing skills havent wavered. Absolutely in love with the fic every word typed is carefully thought out and the author has put much love in this work. They say they will continue it and the latest update is quite recent so I hope they do. I impatiently await the next update. The slow burn is SO GOOD. God they get so close but never quite there. Also Arthur was def expecting Merlin to kiss him so i hope that means he knows of Merlin’s feelings, but even if that’s so I doubt he’ll do anything and tbh he’ll prolly immediately start doubting what he thought and will prolly starting thinking Merlin doesn’t actually feel anything for him. Anyway they’re both painfully obvious and I always wonder in slowburns how they pair never realizes lmao. I hope I find another well written fic, but that means I’m going to have to go through the catalogue again sadly.
