This is an imagined scene from Chain of Gold. In Chapter 15 when Cordelia and James go to the Whispering Room and Matthew is left to deal with his brother Charles.
I like to think Charles is a more complex character than just an unfeeling politician. I think he does care about Matthew but that he's not the best at expressing it.

Summary
Some glimpses into the deeply troubled relationship between Maekar and his firstborn.
(Originally meant to be a short continuation of the ending of episode 6. Instead it seems to be turning into a series of some missing scenes – my own interpretation of what might have happened in some of the gaps between the events we see on screen. This is a work in progress, and I will gradually be adding scenes that take place before the one that started this fic.)

Then Talia woke him up at 2 am, threw three children at him, and told him to get them to America and far away from Ra's al Ghul.
What the fuck.
The last thing he wanted was to see Bruce. But with three brats relying on him and no Talia, there weren't many options for sanctuary. He just didn't expect the kids to grow on him so much in two short weeks.

Summary
