"Hello..? Is anyone-" His voice was cut off by a knife pressed against his throat. He looked down to see a young man, probably about twenty. He was in baggy clothes, a haggard look on his face.
"Who are you," The man hissed, slowly creeping into the light, his movement reminiscent of a wild animal's.
"I'm... Ahem-! I'm Tartaglia, one of the members of the fatui harbingers! Most people call me Childe."
The strange man tilted his head to the side. "What the fuck..? Ajax? What are you doing here?"
Childe was speechless. How did this man know his name? Not many did other than Rosalyne, Pulcinella, his family, and... Of course. How did he not recognize him? His short, dark hair that almost shone purple in the sunlight, his small frame, but forever pissed off expressions, that angry, defensive behavior...
"Scaramouche?"

Summary
Childe has grown up in a conservative family all his life. He keeps a secret, though. He’s gay. He’s been fascinated with drag for some time now, and when his parents threaten to kick him out, he starts trying to performing for money. During this time, he meets a popular queen, The Balladeer, and gets advice from him. The two start working together, and things go further than The Balladeer could’ve ever expected for pitying an upset baby queen.

Scaramouche paused. He wasn’t used to getting compliments from Childe. “Shut up.”

“Because…” He trailed off, idly plucking at some of the strings. There was the sound of shuffling in front of him, and his chin was gently held– tilted up so he locked eyes with Childe. Grip tightening on the neck of his guitar, Scaramouche felt his heart in his throat as the other man softly stroked a thumb over his cheekbone. “Childe–”
His eyes searched over Scaramouche’s face, soaking in his features like it was the first time he was seeing him. “You’re pretty like a girl.”
“Huh?”

Childe stepped forward until Scaramouche’s back was against the locker. His eyes travelled up to dark ginger hair, before coming to rest on his sharp features.
Scaramouche swallowed, before speaking. “You’re not going to be better than me here.”
“Aren’t I?” There was something in his voice that Scaramouche couldn’t pinpoint, and he watched in silence as Childe’s eyes flickered across his face, between both of his eyes and then down to his lips for a split second. “I think I already am.”
He could do nothing but stare as Childe pulled away, going back to his locker to get changed with a smirk.

Scaramouche internally slapped himself, because there was no way he just referred to Childe as a ‘hot guy’. That had to be a breach of their friendship, or something, because it felt almost illegal to think. He shook his head, trying to snap out of it.
