Andrew shuts his phone without leaving a voicemail. He drops his phone onto the counter and slips a knife out of its sheath.
Right before spring break during his fourth year at Palmetto, Andrew Minyard attempts suicide. Now everyone has to figure out how to move forward from here.

“He is receiving help,” the voice soothed.
His body seemed to listen to that gentle, familiar tone because he felt himself relax.
“It’s alright, Jayce. You will be alright.”
He sounded like Viktor, and for a moment Jayce thought it was him, which was absurd because he was being carried by this man like he weighed nothing.
Or, A Hextech mishap leads to Viktor and Jayce switching bodies. Straying too far affects them physically, making distance unbearable and physical contact a necessity. Now they must navigate their daily lives, and convince everyone that nothing is wrong. And absolutely not appear any more tangled up in each other than usual.
Easier said than done.

If he had, if he had done something to make Viktor see himself as who he was, and not what he could be… Maybe none of this had to happen.
But there was nothing he could do, no way for him to go back and change their fates. All he could do was be there in the moment, and keep taking a pickaxe to that shroud of detachment Viktor had tightly surrounded himself with, trying to pretend.
Trying to be more.
And so sometimes Jayce wept, and then he kept going, because that was the only choice he had.
For himself, and for Viktor, and for their child. He kept going, every day grabbing that metaphorical pickaxe on his way out, marching right up to that wall, and pick at it over and over and over again, before starting it all over the day to follow.
Over and over and over again.
