Summary
After recently ending a long-term relationship, Alastor decides to go on a date with Vincenet, a struggling weatherman, recently divorced and surviving on remnants left by his ex-husband. Both are serial killers, concealed in plain sight. They quickly connect, but not in the usual sense. Instead, they discover that mutual hatred makes their interactions more entertaining, turning their teasing into a twisted rivalry.
A subtle, nearly imperceptible curve lifted the corner of Alastor’s mouth—a smile that held zero warmth and maximum judgment. He lifted his crystal tumbler, the ice inside clinking once, sharply.
“Oh, no, I walked. My apartment is barely three blocks away,” the radio host said, his voice a low, resonant baritone that seemed engineered for the airwaves. He took a measured sip, his eyes narrowing slightly over the rim of the glass, never leaving Vincent's. “In fact, I’ve been here for over an hour already, lingering and listening to the folk gripe about the weatherman’s utterly predictable misprediction of this evening’s snow accumulation.”
Wait. Vincent blinked, completely taken aback. Did he just… insult me?
