Summary
Zelda can sense the return of danger, and she knows she is the one destined to stop it. She won’t fail. Not with all this wisdom and all this authority at her fingertips.
Ganondorf can feel the curse creeping up on him, but he’s no closer to finding a way out than when he first learned of it. This hatred that fights to consume him will come for all his people next if he doesn’t stop it.
Link’s brother is missing. Bodyguard to the princess, Rift disappeared with her after the appearance of the Dark Beast in Gerudo Desert. Now a Voice is calling Link to defeat that Beast to save Hyrule and reunite his family.

Malon was trying to clean. She was also trying not to lose her head.
It was a hard thing when Four had a blow out. It was a hard thing when Legend fell asleep while invisible and nearly drove her mad with worry. It was a hard thing when Twilight’s powers started acting up for some unknown reason and she had to calm down a frantic wolf.
All of those were hard enough on their own, but when they all happened in the same evening?

“I know your birthday has always been a bittersweet affair for you,” she settled on a the stool across the table’s corner from him and placed a hand on his knee. “But it isn’t usually this bad. Did you have a nightmare?”
“Seven years.” His voice was raw and he didn’t dare lift his head. Not while his eyes were still stinging despite his best efforts. “Tomorrow I’ll be seven years older than when I first touched the Master Sword.”
OR, Link’s seventeenth birthday brings about reminders from long past adventures and he struggles to keep himself in the present rather than reliving the past with the help of Malon and Talon

Four’s eyes were wide as he stared at the familiar face. That… couldn’t be. “L-Link?”
Ravio stiffened. He snapped his bunny hood back over his head, but the damage was already done. “No. I’m not Link.”
Four’s heart slammed against his rib cage at that and he staggered. Was it possible? How? How could Legend have done it? “Shadow?”

Hyrule shook his head violently, overbalancing and lurching to the side as he did so. “No, no, you can’t have it, you can’t, I won’t let you!”

“Why are we still here?” one of the travelers complained later that day. “It’s been almost two weeks. Usually we’d be gone by now.”
“We haven’t accomplished our goal here,” the one with the scarf - Warriors - said with a shrug.
Wind sighed, leaning back against a tree. “What is our goal?”
Legend snorted at the question. “It’s obvious, isn’t it? We’re here to find Link.”
The others all paused, processing that, and Link froze from where he was peeking out of the scarf.
“... That… makes sense,” Four said after a moment.
“I suppose that is fairly obvious,” Sky sighed. “But surely we’d have run into him by now?”
Pressing his back against a higher fold of scarf so he wasn’t visible anymore, Link took quick, panicked breaths, keeping as quiet as possible. They were looking for him.
Or: What if Hyrule was the last one to join the Chain, and what if he wasn't in the shape of a Hylian when he did it? And what if there were a lot of tears and some hugs at the very end?
