Some days the grief settled on him so hard, he couldn't force himself into the day, resigned to wither to nothing where he lay. Others, he was able to lock it all back in its cage, a clawing, snarling creature tamed only by his desire to not fall victim to it again. Today though, he let the memories burn just enough to remind him how he'd gotten here, what he'd survived to have the opportunity to still be able to remember, and he was grateful.

Blackbeard/Ed and Stede are reunited.
Canon extension, post S1 E10 continuing on."Stede was coming back to him. He was moments away from being reunited with the man he loved. The man who he had given up so much for. The man who had abandoned him. Any second now, he would at the door.
Edʻs heart fluttered but then Blackbeard shut it down. He plucked the knife from the table and stabbed it through the newspaper portrait. He then retrieved the charcoal from the desk and walked to the mirror to re-darken his beard and eyes. In the mirror he saw that tear streaks ran through the charcoal on his face, he didnʻt even realize that he had been crying at the thought of being reunited. It was simply not allowed."Ed puts Stede in the closet until he can deal with his emotions
