Summary
When Merlin first arrived in Camelot becoming the Prince’s manservant was the last thing he expected to happen. But years later he gets to watch Arthur get crowned King. Merlin knows that Arthur will be the amazing king that he is destined to become. He is proud to be able to stand behind him. To see him grow from an annoying prat to a courageous king is an honor to Merlin. And Merlin would be perfectly happy to stay in Arthur’s shadow forever. He sees no reason for Arthur to learn of Merlin's treason. Arthur doesn’t need to know that Merlin is a warlock, or the amount of times that Merlin has saved his life without him realizing it. Merlin does not want to look into Arthur’s gorgeous blue eyes and see the hatred and betrayal looking back at him. But of course, life isn’t kind nor is it fair, especially not Merlin’s life.
(This is my first official fanfic that I have written and posted. Any criticism is greatly appreciated.)
