AU. A deviation from Carla's psychosis storyline.
While deep in the grips of psychosis and hiding out at her childhood home-turned-squat, Carla is arrested and sent to Norcross, where she meets Betsy Swain. The two form an unlikely friendship.
When Carla is released early on licence, she is placed in a halfway house to finish out her sentence. After a violent run-in with another resident, she is forced to look for alternative accommodation. All she has to do is convince Lisa Swain that letting a complete stranger and ex-con move in with her is a good idea...
Slow burn.
Carla's life is mostly canon up until her psychosis, but the Swains I have moulded to fit into this AU timeline

Lisa comes to in a hospital room on a firm, unforgiving bed. It’s quiet save for a slow beeping from a nearby monitor.
She sits up quickly to scan her surroundings. White walls, machines, white curtain.Her eyes drop to scan over her own body, but no discernible injury could be found.
Legs, fine. Torso, fine. Arms are…her eyes catch the metal on her finger.That’s not her ring.

Lisa has amnesia and forgets the last four years (including having ever met Carla).

Summary
This starts about a month after 'In any version' ends and you probably do need to have read it in order for a lot of this to make sense.
Set in March 2014 of my alternative timeline, Charity and Vanessa are very much together and everyone knows about their relationship. Charity is still reeling from their run in with Bails, even though he seems to have dropped off the radar and Vanessa is worried about her.
This is a rewritten history of Emmerdale - I'm basically picking and choosing what I include (based on how it serves the Vanity story I want to tell). I'm sorry if it ends up being messy and confusing! Updates probably won't be regular as I attempt to mark GCSE exams this summer as well as my full time job - but I'll do my best not to let this story die.
