Summary
Mike’s hand, which is still brushing Will’s, shifts just slightly, and his pinky finger hooks loosely around Will’s own. Which is a lame, cliche move to get worked up over, probably, except that Will also might be forgetting how to breathe over it. “What if we split up?” he hears himself say, his voice coming out impressively even considering the fact that his heart is making a very valiant effort to beat right through his chest and leap into Mike’s palm, “In pairs, maybe? Mike and I can take the garage.”
“Oh, I’m sure,” Lucas mutters. Will chances a glance at Mike, whose cheeks have turned a dusty shade of pink, and who is gnawing harshly on his lower lip in what appears to be an attempt to press down a smile.Dustin plans a murder mystery party. It goes about as well as you'd expect.

Summary
The apartment complex on Wisteria Street is an old building in the Chicago suburbs, exposed brick and pipes that creak and groan ominously when you turn the faucet on too fast. It’s shitty, really, badly upkept and not worth the amount of money they’re paying for it, but it’s cute, in a rustic sort of way, and close to campus, and plus, Will gets to live there with Mike, his boyfriend, which kind of makes everything else seem like a moot point.
The first morning after they’d moved in, Will had walked into the kitchen to find a pale girl in a white lace nightgown standing in their kitchen.Turns out Will can see ghosts. He's dealing with it, mostly.

Mike glances down at the wet fabric of his sweatshirt and grimaces. “Fair enough.” He squeezes Will’s hand. “Just think warm thoughts, okay?”
Sometimes Mike is disturbingly similar to Will’s mother. “Thinking,” he confirms, squeezing his hand back. It does help, actually - picturing the long, hot shower he’ll be taking the second they’re back at his house, followed by hot cocoa, and dry clothes, and cuddling with Mike under several layers of blankets until the bone-deep cold seeps out of them both, and-

Will had climbed up to Mike’s window with a practiced ease, and while he always felt bad about waking Mike up from his much needed sleep, Will needed him, needed his soft and gentle touches, needed to know that Mike was alive and that he could keep Will safe from himself.
And now, Will feels more than just safe – he feels content. He’s sitting on the sloped roof of a house he’s known like the back of his hand since he was six with his legs curled up to his stomach, head resting on his knees, as he watches the love of his life blow smoke from his lips.

He can’t help but admire the smooth, off-white stationery, its pleasant weight in his hands. A serious-looking “MJW” watermark adorns the top of each page, totally at odds with the entertaining missive and its author’s garbled cursive. Will laughs quietly to himself again. Just as something brushes against his leg, he throws himself forward and meets open air.
Time seems to slow. It’s a cliché, but it’s honest, and he’s trying to be honest with himself these days.
So honest that, as time slows and the wind rushing past him seems to slow as well, he admits that in a way, this is what he’s always wanted. To take control of his own fate, have a say in what becomes of him. To disappear, for good this time. Hopefully they won’t find his body. And what does it say about him, that the idea of disappearing forever and leaving everyone he loves with nothing fills him with a fucked-up sense of relief?

Summary
It's not even like Will is some godlike specimen. His skin is olivey and a bit summer-tan, and he has floppy, honey-brown hair and a few moles smattered adorably across his face and arms, but he is very much just a boy. Average height, average build, symmetrical face. He's wearing jeans and a Zelda T-shirt and plain white Vans. But he gives Mike an awkward half-smile and a wave as he introduces himself at the box office, and Mike can actually feel himself get stupider.
Will and Mike meet working at their local movie theater, and Mike is so into Will — particularly his hands — that he almost gets fired.
