Spencer Reid was an Omega. It wasn’t a secret or something he was ashamed of or tried to hide. It was just a fact. One of the many that he had stored in his brain and although sometimes it was a nuisance (heats, having to deal with over-bearing Alphas, etc), but for most of the time, it didn’t really bother him. What did bother him, was his increased sense of smell. Alphas and Omegas had heightened senses of smell, to better seek out a potential mate. Betas didn’t have a good sense of smell and couldn’t smell pheromones at all. Most of his team-mates at the BAU were Betas, with only Morgan and Hotchner as Alphas. Being the only Omega on the team wasn’t hard. He wasn’t discriminated against in any way, or treated as ‘special’, he wasn’t pandered to or treated as fragile at all.

The human leant forward, his eyes and scent turning dark and dangerous, as if he’d heard the direction John’s thoughts had taken. “Don’t test me,” he spoke in a low rumble that had John’s fur rippling down his spine, “I could have just as easily left you there to die. I can and will overpower you if you fight me.”John blinked slowly and met the human’s gaze for a few long, tense seconds, before he dropped his gaze and his tail, walking forward until he was at the human’s feet. There, he sat, and rested his head cautiously on the human’s thigh.
“Good boy,” the human murmured, his scent turning light and pleased, and long fingers sunk into John’s thick fur, caressing him tenderly.
John could feel the tension easing out of him at the gentle affection, his eyes closing. He felt safe, and secure. This human Alpha would care for him and protect him, John could sense it. And in turn, John would devote himself to his Alpha.

But, Cas had never lied to him. Well, no, Cas had lied to him before but he was a shit liar. Looking up into his face now, Dean saw nothing to indicate that he was lying. -

A gentle hand cupped his jaw, and John flinched out of pure habit and shock. He was unaccustomed to gentle touches. The hand just followed, insistent but not threatening. John watched Sherlock warily for a few moments, before cautiously relaxing into it. It felt nice, John thought. Pleasant, even.
A small smile crossed Sherlock’s face, and the tips of his fingers gently curled, brushing gently on the corner of John’s jaw. John’s eyes dipped half-closed for a moment, before opening fully again as John regained control of himself.
