    He was willing to chip at it, at his father’s carefully constructed cage, bit by bit. He could make it clear that his body was not his; and what with everybody so keen to take control of it, he could make sure they know that everybody—anybody was welcome to do with it what they will.

    (He didn’t hate his father as much as he hated himself anymore.)

    It was a small rebellion, more or less invisible, but he could see it. And Neil Perry just wasn’t brave enough to rebel in bolder colours anymore.

    After a failed suicide attempt, Neil is desperately trying to hang on to who he was before, but that person is slipping through his fingers. He’s not sure whether he ever existed at all.

    After surviving his suicide attempt, Neil tries to go back to his normal life. Only that months pass by, and the sound of crying and sirens haunts his dreams, and he spends every waking moment trying to keep up with his life.
    He is miserable, which makes Todd miserable, too. So when the chance comes to make Todd happy, he snatches it.
    What a shame he takes the bad opportunities, too.
