Jotaro had mastered the art of nonchalance. Until Kakyoin would lean in close to speak to him, or gently grab him by the shoulder. Jotaro would practically jolt in his skin, a prominent flush dusting the tops of his ears and his words tumbling to leave his fumbling lips, fighting to hide his gaze under the brim of his hat.
Kakyoin’s lips curved into a soft grin. He could have some fun with this.

Caesar had miraculously survived his fight against Wamuu. Despite giving up everything to help Joseph and his mentor so they could defeat the other enemies. Now he was left with nothing, he had moved to America so he could heal from his injuries without worrying about the war, but now he was healed and was stuck waiting for the war to end. His memories of his time spent with them fuzzy, unable to remember neither their faces nor their voices. He decides to only way to accept he won't remember is to move on. But why can't he?

Jotaro wakes up in the middle of the night, to not find his husband by his side but a long, grey, pillow imitating his form and if it wasn't for the fact that it was weirdly still he wouldn't have noticed.
They've been so long together now, Noriaki knew exactly how to place the pillow just right to make it resemble him in a convincing way without waking up Jotaro too. Most of the time, Noriaki just gets up to go eat something or to not disturb Jotaro when he doesn't feel like sleeping.
But this time, his absence felt strange.

Jotaro wanted to say and do many things to Kakyoin. He wanted to scold him for being so reckless; he wanted to hug him and tell him how worried he was; he wanted to make him lie down and rest under his watchful eye until he was completely healed. But at that moment, seeing Kakyoin smiling at him like that, all those desires vanished like smoke in the air, making way for relief and warmth.
