And then, of course, his grandmother caught him playing around with the rice and gave him an earful, so he didn't do it again. But for days, weeks, months afterward, Yakumo remembers his mind constantly coming back to it, worrying at it like a loose tooth.

Summary
Living with Master Eiden and attending adventures with him had done wonders to get Edmond out of his terrifying comfort zone. It had been nearly three years since the worst day of his entire life, but the others, brimming with essence and positivity, had yanked him out of that dark place and brought him into the light they radiated.
However, due to his soul gemstone being completely severed that day, Edmond still frequently dealt with essence regulation issues. And today seemed to be no different.

"Uh…" Yakumo licks his lips, unable to look Garu in the eye as he tries to find some excuse, any excuse not to read this book. Not with Garu and certainly not out loud! "Garu… I'm, uh. I'm not sure if Karu would like it if we read this book, is the thing."
"Oh, no, he loved it! But he couldn't stay awake the entire time and fell asleep halfway through," Garu says, with a pleased smile, his butt wiggling precariously close to, uh, certain locations as he settles into Yakumo's lap.
"B-but… that book has, um," Yakumo says, swallowing hard as dread and embarrassment choke him up, "n-naughty bits. You know that, right?"
Garu blinks up at Yakumo and laughs.
