If you ask anyone who knows even the slightest bit about hockey, they would say that Shane Hollander is one of the nicest players out there. A generational talent with talks of a dynasty.
If you ask Ilya Rozanov, he’d announce loudly that Shane Hollander is the best thing that happened to him. Don’t get it wrong; he’d still call him boring and polite and “very Canadian” and only the second best hockey player in the league. But there’d be a sparkle in his eye and a soft smile on his lips, and it wouldn’t be hard to see the pure adoration the man had for Shane Hollander. He’d mock him with “golden boy Shane Hollander,” but there’d be a thread of something hidden in his voice. Almost as if he doesn’t truly believe it.
Or, Shane Hollander left Montreal. He's not sure if all of him did, though.

Ilya Rozanov regularly gets called out on fighting his husband’s battles. He thinks people should be glad it’s him they’re facing.

He couldn’t stop replaying the last time he had been in this building with all of them. He couldn’t stop hearing his teammates accusing him of throwing the game for Ilya, saying he fell on purpose. All he could feel was his heart fracturing inside his chest.

Hayden had also told him that after Comeau had been promoted to captain, everyone on the team minus him and J.J. had started treating him like a god who could do no wrong, while not so subtly taking digs at Shane in the process.
Statements like “At least our new captain won't leave us to suck some Russian asshole's dick” and “How much do you want to bet that Hollender gets a train run on him before every game to encourage the team?” had apparently been thrown out before Hayden had promptly shut them down.
