Summary
The plot follows Jake Long, a boy of Chinese-American heritage who can transform into a powerful dragon. He comes from a lineage of dragon protectors on his mother's side, and together with his grandfather, Lao Shi, he trains to succeed to the role of dragon protector in the United States. In New York, a city where magical creatures secretly coexist with humans, Jake faces the Hunts clan. This clan claims that they have been chosen by the gods to eradicate magical creatures, bearing dragon-shaped markings at birth as proof of their divine selection. The Hunts Clan claims that magic brings only trouble and that humans are the only beings with power that should exist, following their belief in a supposed divine will. Long ago the clan leader eliminated the dragon king, who possessed the unique ability to manipulate all five Chinese elements simultaneously. Now Jake must stop their attempts to eliminate the magical creatures so that chaos does not ensue again.
