Summary
Shadow the Hedgehog lost the sole reason he could love this world. The painful death of the hero created a terrible future and caused the world to fall under the control of the Eggman Empire, led by Neo Sage, an ultimate AI created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik.
After that, Shadow and Silver teamed up to fix the future, until finally Shadow the Hedgehog died and regressed back to the past. Shadow’s vow is to prevent the death of the blue hedgehog. Can he do it?
Or maybe destiny is playing a toy with him, making him realize some feeling that he thought he never felt it towards Sonic.

So basically sonic died bc he sacrificed himself to save the world from a world wide explosion by tanking the impact with his own body.the explosion was actually triggered by shadow,who happened to teleport there using a chaos emerald that caused a reaction bc PRO-EX/pre-cry is supposed to deneutralize(?) chaos energy.
so yeah,it was a little bit of shadows fault but he didn't know that would trigger it.so when shadow got there the volcano base(where PRO-EX/pre-cry was located) exploded and he went to check and found sonic in the brink of death,and sonic last requests was to protect the world in his place since shadow is the ultimate lifeform (basically immortal) and then sonics friends came back and saw the scene and kinda put the blame on shadow, especially tails.
Shadow decided to carry sonics request and protect the world, people called him the blink hero or sum aura like tht
Eventually,he realizes that he's getting stronger too strong and unstable for the world,and those kinds of things tends to materialize a villain and its already showed after he beat up a proud guy that told him that he built the golden statue of sonic,so he hid himself in a cave,far away from any lifeforms
That is until he found omega, he said it would be better to put shadow in the stasis again,so shadow obliged.
500(?) years later he woke up from the stasis and found silver fighting an enemy,the world was falling apart and ruled by sage and dr.miles prower (the eggman empire) and blablabla silver is traumatized and glad that shadow is back

“My heart,” the voice whispered, stepping closer, “beats for you—as it always has.”
The words hit like a slap. Sonic’s body locked up, spine stiff, mind skidding like tyres on black ice.
No. No way. That’s not—
That wasn’t Shadow. That wasn’t something Shadow would ever say. Not in a hundred years. Not even as a joke.
“…Wait.” The word came out rough. As if it scraped against something inside him. “You’re not Shadow. Are you.”
The smile changed—less like a stranger's grin now and more like something tender. Familiar even. Like Sonic had just said something kind. He tilted his head, studying him with calm reverence.
“That is correct, my liege,” he said, and then, with an almost theatrical grace, dropped to one knee. “It is I. Lancelot.”
And just like that, the world tilted beneath Sonic’s feet.
Or—Lancelot ends up hijacking Shadow's body!

Summary
I got this idea but I can’t draw or animate so I decided to write about it. I never write fanfics but I needed to put this idea somewhere so here we are. I hope you enjoy and please ignore if the characters are mischaracterized, I tried ;-;
This is before the accident and before the shut down, I do not know much about the toon handlers and their lore so they aren't mentioned but they still exist :)
