Fairchild’s bakery is a second home to not just Magnus, but also to most of his found-family. As a pastry chef, he works long hours and takes great pride in his craft – so much so that he has little time or attention for much else. Least of all romance. In the wake of Lilith's death and the apparent destruction of their brotherhood, Dean and Sam find there's an even bigger revelation than Lucifer rising, because Lucifer isn't in his Cage. Lucifer and Michael both Fell a long time ago and became someone new. Became human.

Summary
For a long time, Alec had felt like his life was held together by strings tied on him by the Clave, his parents, his siblings. Strings that pulled and tugged him in every which direction, heedless of the bruises and blood left behind. As much as they hurt, some days they’d been the only thing to hold him together.
That is, up until the moment Alec stood on the shores of Lake Lyn and faced the death of the one person who held a piece of his soul, and the lies that followed his mysterious resurrection.
There, on the shores of Lake Lyn, those strings finally pulled too hard, and Alec broke.
With the permission of the Inquisitor, and the help of the warlock who Alec had wanted so desperately to allow himself to fall for (and had been terrified to do more than smile at his flirting) Alec walked away from everything and everyone. He left New York behind and made himself a home in the small town of Prayer – a joke Magnus found particularly funny.
But, two years after that fateful night, Alec’s old life comes knocking, and those strings he thought he’d finally cut are tugging him home. Back to the place he never wanted to have to see again.
At least this time, he’s not facing it alone.

He may have the opportunity to find a new agent there and see his dream come true. Except that as soon as he arrives at the party he is let in by a man, who is as handsome as he is arrogant and Magnus is so fed up with people like him. And what was that? Was he hitting on him?
Annoyed, Magnus ditches him quite rudely, only to discover a few minutes later that he may have offended the director of the publishing house himself with his unthankful behavior.

Summary
Magnus now expects pretty much anything from the Clave. On the other hand, he has been dealing with Shadowhunters for decades, he knows them. But finding Maryse at his door asking for help to save her son’s life wasn’t something he could have foreseen. The young Alpha who is with her seems to carry on his shoulders a pang of guilt so serious that he would be ready to die, just to atone for his sins. Apparently, the only reason Alec Lightwood wants to fight back and survive is to help his Parabatai. Magnus can’t turn his back on the boy, even if he’s Maryse’s son, when the Clave threatens to kill him just because he’s fallen in love.

"Maryse and Robert are his parents, Jace is his parabatai, and Izzy is his little sister. They’re obligated to feel something for him, god forbid he becomes the Lightwood’s estranged disappointment, and sometimes Alec feels like that cancels out the fact that they love him. Almost as if they only love him because they’re family. He knows that's not entirely true, but sometimes he feels like that anyway.
With Magnus it's different. Magnus doesn't have to stay with Alec, for the first time Alec feels as if he has to make an effort to keep someone he likes interested in him. And that scares him, how dependent he's become on Magnus and how willing he is to do things just to keep him around. It makes him feel pathetic. He knows that eventually Magnus will get tired of him, everyone does, and it’ll break his fucking heart."
