Just one snag. His new CO? Lt. Riley. AKA the legendary Ghost of Hereford. All he’s heard is: “oh fuck, I’m on op with Ghost” followed by a soldier’s world-weary sigh. That, and a rum-soaked bar fight nobody’s supposed to mention. Not exactly LinkedIn material. No intel. No plan. And certainly no time to make one.
When American missiles go missing—somehow—Task Force 141 is deployed to drag the world back from the brink of war. That’s important, sure. Critical. Maybe even medal-worthy. Soap’s got a second op. Armed with nothing but hope, a well-practised smile, and an AK-105, he’s going to do what no soldier has done before. Make Ghost like him.

How many times had Scott heard those words? Lighten up. Even in the military, outside of combat, his fellow soldiers thought he needed to tone it down. He couldn’t. He had a switch, and it was always on. Too straight-laced, too professional, too logical; he didn’t have it in him to deviate from the manual, to improvise, or to tell his superiors to shove it.
