Summary
“Pardon me, sir, but I don’t care what you mean,” Sabo said.
Amidst the last notes of the bird’s songs, all Ace could say was, “Why?”
Sabo leaned in so close that their lips nearly touched. Ace could tell that Sabo’s lips still stung from smoking too much. They were swollen. Ace saw that his lower lip looked redder than usual, a little sweeter.
Embarrassed, Ace glanced up but Sabo didn’t.
“You are beside me and yet I cannot touch you,” Sabo said mysteriously, his one eye staring at Ace’s mouth. “It upsets me because my soul yearns to be one with your’s, sir.”

Summary
All pirates (except Luffy) are scum. When Portgas D. Ace becomes seventeen he follows his grandpa's footsteps and becomes a Marine, but of course, his path doesn't take him down the road he expects. Sure, he arrests pirates, saves civilians, and randomly falls asleep in his dinner, but he also gets kidnapped repeatedly by the Whitebeard Pirates and flirted with by Marco the Phoenix.
None of that was covered in his training. There was nothing in the Marine handbook about being kidnapped by maniacs who want Ace to join their family, or how to stop an immortal Phoenix from flirting all the time!
