Summary

Sometimes, that healing comes in the form of tear-filled breakfasts, secret codes, and enough unhinged energy to power a city. Summary
“Good patrol?” Jason asks an eon later.
Dick nods. “Uneventful.” A word that is synonymous with safe in their line of work. “My red slushy was kind of nasty.” Jason snorts and Dick can’t help but grin himself. There’s an air of ridiculousness when they skirt around the topic of Dick’s appetite. “Had something to wash it down with later in the night.”
Nodding along, Jason finally comes to the last of his tasks, with only the pot still cooking away on the stove. He takes a moment to be still before replying. “Cherry isn’t my preferred slushy either.” Ironic to Dick, when Jason smells of cherries himself. “Too artificial, ” He continues. “Fresh ones you can bite into are always better.” He says it with a wry grin, and there, Dick is inclined to agree.
He tilts his head, “You know,” He starts, although he’s never mentioned it to Jason before. “You smell like black cherries to me. Tart ones.” His tongue runs along the inside of his teeth as they itch with that familiar curiosity. Never ache, never thirst. Just itch.

Vamprism isn’t a choice Dick got to make, but Jason and Damian prove to Dick there’s value in being among the undead and resurrected.
