This is an anti-rec. This is everything I think is wrong with polygamy in one fic. And the most damning part is that it’s a fantasy that the author seems to think is romantic and healthy. Yikes.
- Bruce is into polygamy and Clark is just going along with it because it’s the only way Bruce would agree to a relationship. Typical polyamorous couple.
- Clark is way more into the relationship that his polyamorous partner and guess what, he’s monogamous. Again typical.
- He just got dumped by the other love of his life and thinks he is abnormal and Bruce is hos only chance at love and normalcy so he has very low self esteem going into this. This is realistic because no self respecting person would put themselves through this “relationship”.
- Clark is biologically bonded to Bruce for some fucking reason. This creates a clear power imbalance that is needed for him to put up with his shit. The author is clearly incapable of recognizing the power imbalance that they have created which is realistic for a polyamorous person.
- There is a scene where Clark who is bonded to Bruce, who is of course not bonded to him on account of seeing other people that he also “loves”, wants something to feel close to his “partner”. And Bruce has to check with his other long term fuck buddy and whoever else he is currently fucking before going along with this simple request from his “partner”. This is supposed to be a “healthy” polyamorous “relationship”. This is what passes as “romance” here 🤢 At this point I was ready to grab this fictional character and shake them until they grew a spine and some self respect.
- Bruce is a disaster man child with commitment issues and probably a sex addiction. This part is also at least realistic.
- Bruce makes grand (and empty) declarations of love to Clark after nagging him and lying to him, then breaks his friendship with him to pressure him into a relationship while simultaneously not wanting to have a relationship with him because he can’t not fuck other people. Basically very typical fuck boy behavior. He “loves” Clark, but only as long as everything about their relationship is on his terms. So Clark of course makes all the compromises. This is of course an ideal scenario for a polyamorous person.
- Clark is not at all bothered by this. Because low esteem aside, this is a fantasy polyamorous world where jealousy is a personality defect and not a normal human emotion so he doesn’t feel it so Bruce doesn’t have to feel bad about being a shitty partner or make any compromises whatsoever.
- Clark is obviously feminized (omega), and not into anyone else besides Bruce (the man and the alpha), who is not as into this and fucks other people. The whole thing screams male fantasy. Also typical for polyamorous people.
- I thought this would be hot porn without plot but it’s not even that. It’s just a polyamorous persons’s version of a relationship.
- I thought a Brucie centered fic which explores Batman’s dual identity would be fun but the characters are very ooc.In conclusion, I hate it with the power of a thousand suns. May this relationship never find you.
