Everyone continues to ignore James, to busy keeping up a death stare towards the entrance of the living room— Sirius’s stomach dropping six feet under and his heart clenched when not even a minute passes and it’s no other than Remus Lupin who ambles through the threshold, looking so adorably flustered until spotting Dorcas Meadowes— president of both the STEM club and the black student union— who quickly envelopes him into a hug before they stroll towards the garden by the smokers.

Summary
They had been friends with benefits for just over a year, and neither knew how to get out of the toxic pattern. It was only allowed to happen between dusk and dawn: they would be at a party, or out for dinner, or watching a movie with their friends. Their eyes would meet, just the once. Their hearts would ache and they would always end up in the same place: Sirius on his knees on someone else's bathroom floor, some filthier than others, opening himself up on tattooed fingers whilst sucking Remus down into his throat.
They wouldn’t talk, they wouldn’t kiss; they barely even looked at each other’s faces. It’s how it had gone the first time, and it had been Groundhog Day from there on. The same sequence of events, aiming for the mythical emotionless sex neither could pull off.
