When Thomas gets a call from Teresa saying she can't make it to their date, he thinks about throwing his cinema tickets in the trash. But, being the greedy sucker that he is, he decides to go and see the film on his own. The only problem, however, is that it's the sequel—and he hasn't seen the first part yet.
Luckily, a very handsome stranger in front of him googles the film plot, which Thomas catches when he leans in to read over his shoulder. But his glances do not go unnoticed.

Summary
"A sob coming from his right pulled his mind back into the real world, catching him off-guard. He turned toward the sound and saw someone sitting on one of the wooden benches, holding their head in their hands.
For a moment, he wanted to pretend he hadn't seen whoever was sitting there and go back to his much more joyful fantasies. He was about to do so when the sobs got louder, the person's shoulders evidently shaking. It was impossible to ignore. Newt took a deep breath before walking toward the bench, the boy sitting on it now slightly more visible.
"Are you all right, mate?"
Or, when Newt decides to go for a walk on Christmas Eve, he comes across a boy who's close to freezing to death. He couldn't possibly let him die out there, so he takes him back to his flat, where he tries everything that comes to mind to get Thomas warm again.

Even now, after all that happened to them, her everlasting smile stays put, looking brighter than ever as she wrestles with Minho in the sand, Thomas cheering them on from the sides while Gally just shakes his head and laughs at them both. Sonya manages to get the upperhand, twisting and pinning Minho to ground as she let’s out a victorious laugh. Harriet can’t help the quiet chuckle that escapes her as she watches from where she sits, far enough that she doesn’t get in the way of the tussling, but still close enough that Sonya spots her and sends her a cheery wave.
OR
Harriet gets the wrong idea about what's going on between Sonya and Thomas. Everything goes well in the end.

And that's an issue—just slightly, because Newt is touchy about his leg on a good day, but now, for some reason, he seems absolutely hellbent on avoiding Thomas's help at any cost, even if it means he has to limp around in pain all day.
Thomas doesn't understand, and Newt only gives half-answers, bats him away, until he can't outrun the truth any longer.
They talk about it.
