Summary
After Spock is grievously wounded during a mission gone wrong, Kirk is left with a haunting reminder of his failure to keep his landing party safe. With his officer's blood (literally) on his hands, he has to try and find a solution for scrubbing himself clean of Vulcan gore and managing the logistics of a puzzling and dangerous mission through the Arthelos asteroid belt. However, in doubting his capabilities and lamenting Spock's injury, he may end up placing himself and the rest of the Enterprise crew in more danger than he realizes.
AKA: Author writes an angst fic to answer the fun question of "what if Vulcan blood stained your skin?" and decides to find the answer for themselves by tossing Spock straight into the literary shredder in front of his beloved.

Commander Will Riker is ambitious and gregarious, with a quick mind, but he’s focused on his career and has no interest in an intense empathic bond - no matter how enticing he finds Counselor Deanna Troi.
Counselor Deanna Troi is intelligent and caring, and trying hard to prove herself away from the aristocracy and royalty of Betazed. She’s utterly unprepared for the imzadi bond, and especially unprepared for Will Riker - a man whom she would never have chosen for herself, but now is unable to stop thinking about.
