There it is: In Kaeya’s eye. His starlit pupil has clouded over, darkening with sentiments Diluc knows of all too well. Sentiments he's seen, sentiments he’s felt more times than he’s had years on earth – pressed against his temple, curled around his body, wrapped around his waist… The pain. The fear. The concern. The worry… All which convey the same three words, only in their own distinctive tongues – and yet, Diluc understands them still.
Three words he’s heard only once before. Two weeks ago. Spoken softly into his skin.
Three words he couldn’t… Three words that have always belonged to Kaeya – and yet he couldn’t…

or: even in total darkness, fear finds no occupancy in kaeya - because it's not the dark that scares him. nor does it frighten diluc, for that matter... no, not really. diluc isn't afraid of the dark. it may taunt him, may tempt him... but it comforts him just as well. rather, diluc fears himself the most... then again, masked as he's been by a cloak of shadows, what awaits him when he finally steps into the light (if he dares to) terrifies him even more.

Summary

In the unexplored field of stellar fake-boyfriends, Kaeya checks all the boxes—and then some. Summary
Kaeya turned to examine Diluc. His gaze noted each point of damage to Diluc's platform—
Injury to the left orbital lobe. Blast damage to the torso. Various signs of abrasion and pitting. Damage to the left hand seems severe—skeletal structure likely compromised.
—each observation a cool knifepoint slid into his chest. Diluc was not a human. He did not experience pain as humans did. Physical trauma did not hinder his mental processes. Despite the extensive damage, he sat upright with no apparent distress. And so the emotions Kaeya was experiencing now were entirely unnecessary. Neither were they helpful.
But that was the trouble with sentiment, wasn't it? It was irrational.
The Ursa, a Leviathan-class ship, has come to Mondstadt. Diluc's mission is to destroy it.
