    Summary

    DAHLIA:
Oh, I see. You don’t want the truth—you want a story. I can give you that. I could give you the tragedy, if you like—the sad, lonely girl who never knew love, desperate for any drop of attention, who was twisted by circumstance into something ugly, something cruel. Or we could go down the easy route. We could play the one where I was just born wrong—the evil twin, the lesser half, the demoness with a black hole where her heart should be. The beast masquerading as beauty, hungry for blood from the very beginning. Which do you prefer?

    MIA:
    Which one’s true?

    DAHLIA:
Oh, neither. Or maybe both. It’s just a matter of perspective.

    Summary

"I won’t let you go back through the mortality door either.” Mia braced herself with a smile, feeling her canines sharpen. “Stalemate.”

Dahlia stared at her for a moment and then gave a long, irritated sigh. She lay down on a piece of rock carved to look like souls screaming. She didn’t lounge attractively, chest twisted upward and hips to the side per usual. She flopped there flat, like a dead fish.

“Fine,” Dahlia said. “Whatever. God what I wouldn’t give for a Lush bath bomb.”

My favourite dynamic ever. I love Dahlia Hawthorne so much. Her life is so fucked up..!!! So many opportunities for growth but she never takes them. Awesome.

Miles Edgeworth has a realization. Phoenix Wright also has a realization. If there's a significant length of time between these two events, well. No one ever said the course of true love ran smooth.

(Edgeworth thinks they're dating, Phoenix doesn't realize - mostly because they've basically been in unspoken love for so long that nothing really changes, until it does. Nebulously post Dual Destinies.)

    Summary

The trial was over, lives no longer at stake, the risks no longer present, and yet they seemed to gravitate back into whatever this was again and again, case after case. This was Miles’s favorite type of conversations with Wright – when they were on the same side, and the court was empty, but what they said to each other still mattered. From the look in Phoenix’s eyes (determined, relaxed, thrilled, hopeful, ???), he suspected his preference was shared.

As nice as that was, he also strongly preferred winning this ridiculous argument to losing. He had a suspicion the feeling was frustratingly mutual.

In the end, all it takes is a bad cup of tea and a leap of faith.
