    A shot rang in the air. The gun was loaded.

    "Good", Glenn thought as he placed the metal between Jodie's brows.

    Jodie swallowed dryly, working to remember any of the de-escalation techniques he had been taught. His hands came up open and nonthreatening in front of him. What was he supposed to say? All of the training felt so long ago, almost fake now that he was actually here. He opened his mouth, no words came. He was supposed to beg. He was supposed to remind the threat that he was a human with hopes and dreams just like him. Jodie wasn't sure he was up to the task, but he had no other options.
