That day at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Alex comes across the very same Prince Henry who just dismissed him having a panic attack in a bathroom. The choice Alex makes then has ripple effects neither of them could have ever expected. What's the story like, when they actually are friends all along?

And there are reasons he hasn’t told anybody this, good reasons, even though he’s sure June and Nora saw through him ages ago. Faced with his mom’s disappointment, though, and with the realization that the entire world apparently thinks he hates Henry and would willingly shove him into a fucking cake, he can’t stay quiet.
“But we are friends,” he says, vehement and serious. “We have been for years. He’s—he’s probably my best friend, actually, along with Nora.”

Three weeks before Henry Fox's tour for his fourth, highly anticipated, awards-bait novel A Brief War in December begins, his publicist Janella breaks her foot on a bunny slope at Windham.
Alex can't be mad at her, even though he kind of is. Saying it out loud would be like kicking her when she was down, and she already went down a literal mountain in the worst way possible.
Now crammed in Rafael Luna's corner office, Janella is shooting Alex extremely apologetic looks while slumped on her crutches, wearing a bright orange cast. The conversation about who is going to be joining Henry Fox on his multi-city trek across the U.S. is also going downhill. Alex is feeling the same sort of free fall while standing still.
Because out of all the publicists available in their tiny underfunded department, the only one left to escort their company's best-selling author is regrettably him.
The problem is, well, Alex absolutely hates Henry Fox.
Or: Alex is the publicist for Mountchristen Publishers, and is stuck on a two-week tour with their best-selling, but frustrating, author Henry Fox.

After a few years of living together in New York Alex and Henry's lives are going great, but Queen Mary is an ever looming shadow. When she summons Henry back to England for apology tour for a comment he makes on a podcast, Henry and Alex realize something needs to change. Before they can make that change, though, Henry's plane home from the apology tour crashes in the Canadian wilderness, killing all on board.
Or so Alex is lead to believe. Trapped in his grief, he flees back home to Texas to try and start over. And over. And over. He finally settles in a small town at a small lawfirm, but it isn't until he joins the local volunteer fire department that his life starts to finally turn back around.
Only Henry isn't dead. In an attempt to both smother his "corrupting influence" but still protect the line of succession until Philip has kids, Mary has had him squirreled away deep in the Australian outback.
And, well, it's amazing how often the outback burns, isn't it? Sometimes, it burns so bad, they need help from international firefighters...

One of Henry’s hands slides up Alex’s forearm. Alex’s eyes drop down to watch the path it takes, his skin singing beneath the touch. It’s been so long since he let himself be touched—since Henry touched him. His own breath eases out of his chest, and he holds onto the emptiness, tries to use it to push out the desire for more, but in the end he has no choice but to inhale as Henry’s hand coasts over Alex’s hip, squeezing. With the rush of air comes something headier; deeper; all consuming.
“You know how to shut me up,” Henry murmurs, voice as soft as can be. Like he knows he’s standing on the edge of the cliff and one wrong word can send them careening to their ends.
Alex’s gaze snaps back up to his face. “I do,” he admits quietly.
