An is crumpled on the floor, seemingly unconscious. Curled up by one of the fallen pastry shelves, her black apron is snapped on both its arms. With displays of round pumpernickel loaves looming over her, she looks as if she were the victim of inanimate bread violence. Given her gluten intolerance, she kind of is.
Leave it to An to be tragically poetic. Kohane hates poetry. "I'm not going to kidnap you," she deadpans.
Without turning her head, An’s pupils dart to the corners of her eyes. "Come on, babe," she whines, "not even a little?"
Azusawa Kohane is the average miserable supervillain, committing crimes in the big city to pay for rent and lactose-free milk. Shiraishi An, her girlfriend and favourite Whole Foods employee, has committed the crime of stealing her heart and refusing to let it go.
