Zac stared down at the unconscious intruder on the floor, eyes blown wide and cast iron pan clutched in his trembling grip.
Oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god, there’s a person here, oh god—
Zac set the pan in his hands down as he crouched beside her body, tentatively rolling her over and cautiously looking for signs of immediate danger. She didn’t have horns or claws, which was a good sign. A quick poke at her mouth didn’t reveal any fangs, which was also a good sign.
That didn’t mean he trusted her, though. And so he was quick—well, not quick, turns out people are a lot heavier than he expected—to find a nearby closet and shove her inside before she could wake up.
“Okay, okay, I’ve got a person… in my closet. I’ve got a person in my closet… Damn, I’m good.” Zac mumbled aloud, slowly grinning wider and wider before punching into the air excitedly. “Too weak to handle myself out there, huh, Brennan?
