“Yukio-chan.” Her name lands like a hand around her throat but dripping like honey too.

Shidou Ryusei stands across from her. Glorious beneath a flickering fluorescent light. He was surprised she was here, in the flesh. After all, he was in another city. She shouldn't be here. His skin glowed with sweat drying off from the earlier game. His hair was a mess. Grin sharp and bright and dangerous. He looked unreal.

Just like how she wants him.

“Ryu-chan.” She breathes his name. Hungrily.

    Summary

Art is an impossibly tender declaration, a beautiful way to say ‘I was here. I have carved myself into this world.’ Art, in all its many evolutions, is a hand reaching through time and space in search of another.

Now, standing in this museum and surrounded by works whose creators had long since gone, Yukio can’t help but feel humbled and overjoyed. She hopes, with all the hope in her heart, that one day she might stand before her own art and feel that same tender connection, the burn of having once loved, of having once lived.

For isn’t that the greatest miracle art can offer? To pick apart the world and leave bits of yourself in its crevices. To whisper, ‘This is how I saw the world. Can you see it, too?’ And like all of the greatest artists in history, Yukio’s always dreamed of creating something that can touch another person’s heart like that.

Her gaze drifts to the boy standing before her—Ryusei, who is her greatest muse.

If art is humanity’s love letter to itself, then perhaps her art will be her love letter to him.

Perhaps she can carve a space for herself in his world.
