“That’s fine with me!” Itadori pipes up, optimistic as always. “Fushiguro and I can share. That makes the most sense, after all.” Itadori nudges Megumi with his elbow.
“Yeah,” Megumi agrees drily. It makes the most sense, except it would have made more sense to get a room with three beds. It’s the least they deserve after being sent to the middle of nowhere in Yamanashi to exorcise a grade one curse with their only “supervision” being the ability to call Gojo if they need and hope he actually picks up.
It’s fine. This is fine.

“Obviously.” He rolls his eyes, crossing his arms. “I’m asking why you are, idiot. And why the fuck are you cooking? Did you not eat enough for dinner?”
Itadori laughs. “Isn’t a guy allowed to cook whenever he wants?”
“It’s two am, Itadori.”
He waves a hand flippantly. “Conforming to social stigmas is tiring.”

This was his last chance to play it off: bro-crush; Itadori misheard him; only as a friend. But Itadori blushed, splotchy and pink from the tips of his ears down to his neck, and Megumi wanted Itadori, badly.
Yearning had burrowed its own cave and made a home in his body. No more hesitation, Megumi told himself. It was his turn to hit for the home run.

He’s kinda getting the vibe that Megumi also thinks Satoru’s in way over his head but that kind of thinking feels just a little too judgy coming from a six-year-old. Then again, Megumi is probably the judgiest six-year-old in existence.
Thankfully, Tsumiki is here as well and Satoru doesn’t have to lose his damn mind and have an existential crisis in front of a concerningly stoic little six-year-old. Hooray.
