Fez’s expression shutters, and he studies her with a carefully blank gaze. “A client,” he repeats, like he’s making sure, surveying her from head to toe. It should make her uncomfortable, shifty on her feet; it just makes her kind of singe and burn with desire, as always. “This ain’t the fuckin’ stationery store.”
“I’ve been here before, Fezco,” she says, rolling her eyes. “But this time it’s different. I’m here to get something and leave, like everyone else does.”
“Somethin’ like what?”
“Adderall.”
He mouths the word to himself, his lips moving silently (and Lexi wants to kiss him. Wants to know what his mouth feels like against her skin, what words he would whisper into her neck—). Then, “Fuck.”
“I have the money,” says Lexi, even though she knows that’s not the issue at all. It’s more how Fez is looking at her like she’s something he’s already mourning.
or, lexi's a private school girl, and everybody knows private school girls are bad (but she's pretty sure none of them fall in love with their drug dealers).

His shoulders were broad; he had the look of a man who’d been strong once but was no longer. Most terribly, his right arm ended in a scarred stump just above where his wrist would have been.
“Shhh," said Brienne. She plucked at the ski mask. “Let’s get this thing off him. He looks like an incompetent bank robber. I’m surprised he can breathe.”
When it was off, she brushed the tangled hair away from his face and froze. He was unimaginably changed, and she knew him instantly. “Jaime?” she whispered. “Jaime? My God, what… what happened to you?”
In the distance, Creedence Clearwater Revival began to play “Bad Moon Rising.”

Jester Lavorre wants someone to leave her red faced and out of breath, she wants eyes meeting across the room and hearts beating faster as they circled one another, no one quite daring to make the first move until he finally approaches, taking her hand and pressing a kiss to the back of it, just featherlight to the touch, until she has to remind herself how to breathe. What she gets is a grumpy Duke who seems to have forgotten how to smile.

Caleb glanced around as the lights dimmed further, the colors of the clustered spotlights shifting to pale purples and blues as they centered on the ruffled curtains concealing the stage. The few patrons still standing flitted closer, edging around the tables even though the bar had a decent view — even Nott had stilled her wiping of glasses to watch, and he was mildly surprised to find himself mostly alone at the bar. An unexpected hush had settled over the venue, as though the whole club had been eagerly anticipating… whatever was about to happen. A disembodied voice of indeterminate gender, likely magically amplified, boomed out over the crowd.
“And now,” it said, “the Lavish Chateau is proud to present to you… the Little Sapphire!”
