Summary
Keith doesn't handle praise well- or so Shiro thinks. They've been sparring together in one of the Garrison gyms ever since Keith got serious about his combat training, but anytime Shiro tries to tell him how much he's improving, Keith locks up. He gets defensive - angry, even - and his technique suffers for it.
Shiro would be happy to let it go entirely if Keith wasn’t so obviously invested in their training together… but Keith is invested. He’s all fire and heart. He wants to be the best pilot, the best officer the Garrison has ever seen. He wants to be better than Shiro.

Keith has tried to keep it together, tried to set his feelings aside and listen to what Shiro has to say… but he can't. It's impossible. Because every time Shiro tells him he's done well… every time Shiro's eyes light up, every time he flashes that blinding smile, every time his voice goes fond with genuine praise-
Every time that happens, Keith’s body threatens to betray him.
He balls his hands into fists and braces them against the wall, painfully aware that his dick is rigid and leaking inside his Garrison-issue sweats.

Summary
This is a bonus chapter for my longer fic, "Keep the Fire Going for Me," but it can be read as a stand alone fic as well! In this version of events, Keith and Shiro admitted their feelings to each other before Kerberos and started their relationship in Keith's cabin after he rescued Shiro from the Garrison. This fic immediately follows "The Fall of the Castle of Lions" (S1E4) and explores the aftermath of their battles with Myzax and Sendak.

"I know you probably have questions," Shiro says. He's holding one of Keith's hands in his lap. "I want to tell you everything I remember, Keith, but… I also need to keep it together. For the team. I’m honestly not sure what’ll happen if I start talking about all of it."
Keith takes this in. Shiro has always been honest with him, but he hasn't always been forthcoming. This is a relatively new dimension of their relationship.
Shiro is admitting to a vulnerability.
"I'll help you keep it together out there," Keith says, nodding toward his door. "But in here… I'm your partner."

Summary
Keith rescues Shiro from the Garrison after his escape from the Galra. They spend the night together in Keith's cabin, making up for lost time.

"Shiro… do you know who I am?"
The question is ridiculous. Shiro's memories of Keith are all that's kept him alive for… he doesn't even know how long.
He knew Keith by heart when he left. The fire in his eyes, the grace in his movement, the deepening timbre of his voice.
The softness of his lips.
The sweet press of his body in the middle of the night.
These things followed Shiro through time and space… and this isn't the first time his captors have used them all against him.
He's seen Keith before, heard the sound of his voice and felt the touch of his lips… only to wake up naked on a metal table or cold and alone in a cell. He can't remember the specifics, he can't remember much of anything… but he knows that the person sitting next to him might not actually be the man he loves.

Summary
No one joins him. Not Allura. Not Shiro.
Keith looks into the emptiness of space and only sees himself.
He sees the endless black and wishes it would come for him, tear out his throat, take his sorrow with it. No one was meant to hold this much grief within them.
In which Shiro and Keith heal their friendship, the Paladins work through their grief, and they all find their way back to each other. PIcks up right after when they say goodbye to Allura in Season 8. Not epilogue-compliant.
