"Why don't we just... go?"
Charlie blinks in confusion, squinting across at Mac. He's a bit too stoned to process that for a moment, cocking his head. "Huh? Go? Go where, dude?"
"Anywhere," Mac shrugs. "We could just go, there's nothing stopping us. We could get in a car and drive and escape this empty bullshit and just... go. Together."
For a moment, Charlie doesn't know how to respond, his mouth open like a goldfish in slow motion.
"Like we used to say we would, remember? When we were teenagers. We'd always go on about getting in a car, one day when you can leave Philly, and just going somewhere. And now you can. So, why don't we?"
"We're not teenagers anymore."
"I know," Mac implores. "Doesn't it suck?"

He closes his eyes tightly. Maybe if he just ignores it it'll all go away. It's not easy to ignore Charlie even when he's not doing anything to get attention. He's just magnetic, or maybe he's under some weird satanic shit.
He takes in a deep breath through his nose. There's a smell under all of the piss and cheese that's just Charlie. There's no other way to describe it. It's under the deodorant he started haphazardly applying after his soda gun baths. (Mac had to convince him it’d mask his scent and make him better at bashing rats) Maybe Charlie makes sure to smell like all that awful shit so creeps like Mac aren't sniffing him all the time.
