Summary
Jackie survives the icy night by sheer luck, but it doesn’t do much to stop what the Wilderness really wants. The bear lasts them longer than they thought it would, but after the loss of Shauna’s baby and increasingly harsh conditions, everyone is hungry and desperate. Lottie’s delirious words and strings of faith are misinterpreted, leading to a lethal game of cards. And Jackie’s never been the fortunate sort.
Shauna's hanging on by a thread after the loss of her baby, but she finds comfort knowing Jackie is still there with her. She's never been too sure of her feelings for Jackie - what they are, what they mean - but after she almost lost her too, she knows she could never truly hate her. She might even... love her?
