Mr. Benedict walked in on you staring at the wall. No tears in your eyes, but a blank, glazed expression, and a quivering jaw that suggested distress. You blinked and looked up at him as he crossed the room.
“Something on your mind, my dear?” he asked, voice gentle and soft as ever. It carried through the air and nestled warmly into you heart. You always thought he sounded like safety.
In a moment of sadness, Mr. Benedict cheers you up and gives the best hugs.

Mr. Benedict, as he was with most things, was a generous hugger. He was quick to pull you into his side for whatever reason: you seemed down, you’d just gotten home, it was cold in the drafty kitchen, it had simply been a while since you’d had a hug. His hugs were gentle and warm, soft and welcoming.

Summary
Ellie Barron had a plan: to live a simple life when she moved to Jasper with her grandmother, go through high school with no trouble, and maybe make some friends along the way. Even with a prosthetic leg, that shouldn't be too hard. It'd be better than the grim, lonely way she's lived for the past four years, at least.
What she didn't plan on, though, was accidently discovering an alien race living among her in the throes of a millennia-long war.
