He kept his back on the wall, slowly sliding back without taking his eyes off of the entrance. Then he bumped into something. He jumped, not expecting anything behind him. This was it, the end of his life. A policeman had caught him, and he would surely be killed as soon as he got back to the Refuge. He tried to run, to get away, but a pair of strong hands gripped his arm. He flinched.

There’s a beat of hesitation, but Evan lets go of the red metal and looks headlong into the ground awaiting him.
All is calm, and he takes a step.
“What the fuck.” The stillness of the night is shattered to pieces, and Evan scrambles desperately to take hold of the bridge again. The loss of the silence brings about the loss of control, and within moments he’s hyperventilating, hands sweating and heart racing.
Evan glances over his shoulder and in the darkness can make out a slight, tall figure standing at the very edge of the treeline.
“I-I’m sorry?” Evan chances in response, eyes on the person as they step forward.
And, well. Of all the people he expected to see tonight, Connor Murphy was not one of them.

Summary
Each freelancer was given an animal partner to work and fight along side them. Carolina got a bear, and York got a wolf, Washington got a jaguar, and so on. As the bonds between animal and agent become stronger, the team begins to fall apart after an AI goes rogue. Soon, Washington is alone with his partner and he must try to do what he has to in order to keep both of them safe.
This is an alternate universe (obviously) with animal partners. It follows Washington and the jaguars that he works with throughout the series, yes into where the reds and blues are. Spoilers, definitely spoilers.
