Summary
The rain has stopped. A breeze ruffles Levi’s hair, dissipating the last of the steam from the tips of his ears. It carries the scent of ozone, dew-dropped grass, the mineral tang of the mud. Levi’s tongue is too big in his mouth. He watches Erwin loom over him and is suddenly seized by the sense that he is teetering over the precipice, gazing over the expanse of something indescribable, enormous, unfathomable. There is a hand lovingly placed in between his shoulder blades, and deft fingers are weaving wire through his sternum, knitting the wound shut.
The clouds part, and sunshine unfurls from behind Erwin’s broad shoulders.
“Fight with us, Levi.” His voice shakes with conviction. “We need you.”
The hand at Levi’s back gives a gentle push, the wire pulls taut, and Levi soars.

“When are you going to learn to stop biting off more than you can chew?” Levi huffs.
“Ye of little faith, Ackerman.”

“That was—”

“Okay, that—”
“Mardis Gras?”
“I thought we weren’t talking about Mardis Gras,” Erwin grumbles.

Summary
In an instant, the air in the supply closet coalesces into something palpable—something tangible.
Levi inhales, quiet as anything, smelling cigarette smoke pomade sandalwood and caught between pulling away and leaning in and terrified of the impending gut-wrench of rejection—but it never comes. Erwin is still—so still that if his chest weren’t so close to Levi’s, he would have thought he’d stopped breathing. Levi’s heart hammers a tattoo against his chest, and he hopes desperately that Erwin can’t feel it.
Or…
Erwin’s eyes dip down to somewhere below Levi’s eyeline.
Or maybe he hopes he can.

Summary
He had been wrong. He'd mistaken titan-ravaged lands for hell, and now he knew what that looked like. Hell wasn't death. Hell was surviving the man you'd followed into damnation, knowing you'd follow him again tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, this ruinous love that had nowhere else to exist.
The Commander and his Captain face what lies in wait at a noble’s masquerade.

Summary
“They say,” Levi begins, undoing the bowtie at Erwin’s neck, “that you’re ruthless.”
He begins undoing the buttons on Erwin’s shirt. “That you’ve dedicated your heart to the cause.”
He places a hand on his bare chest, and Erwin shudders. “And you’ll do anything to see it through.”
“Dedicated my heart, huh?” Erwin smiles at that. “Do you believe them?”
Levi hums. “I think you’re used to getting what you want.”
“And what about you?” Erwin asks. “What is it that you want?”

Summary
The gravity of the whole conversation strikes Levi then. It weighs him down with vulnerability and emotions he’s not equipped to handle. Erwin’s offering him something he’s never held before, something he doesn’t know that Erwin’s ever even offered before.
“Okay..” Levi settles back into sheets. He lets Erwin peel their clothes off, one article at a time, and then rolls onto his side. Erwin pulls him in for another kiss.
It’s easy, like this, for Levi to relax. The voices have retreated to a hushed corner in his mind, leaving him to bask in Erwin’s attention, uninterrupted. Erwin’s kisses are serene, with little flicks of his tongue and docile fingers tracing the slope of his spine. Tension seeps from Levi’s muscles, he feels unbound — malleable. Everything is saccharine, as though he’s been dipped in golden honey with the way Erwin devours him in the most tender way possible. He has to hold onto Erwin, twist his fingers in pale blonde locks and grip sun-kissed skin. If he could, he’d carve both of them open, pry both of them apart at the seams, just to stitch them back together with a curved needle and silken thread.

Summary
It is the way of the Devil, to appear to men of faith in his most beautiful form, so that he might tempt them towards corruption. Erwin does not think Levi himself is Lucifer; to assume so would be a cruel projection of Erwin’s own culpability. But perhaps the Devil has put him in Erwin’s path to seduce him to his own damnation.
