Objectively the man from the other night was his least favorite kind of customer– rude, arrogant, hedonistic, worthier-than-thou, and exactly Mobius’ type. Sheer mind over matter was what let him appear in his shift as the reliable face that wouldn’t fuck up your coffee order before you had to go to a job you hated in a city that never really seems to stay the same.

Mobius owns a twenty-four-hour cafe near the East River and Loki is an elusive writer who he pretends to hate. The pretending doesn't last long.

“I love you.” Eddie had muttered, just after the clock hit 1:30. Her gaze heavy and eyelids half closed. The slight sheen of sweat on her cheeks almost suited her under the low light. A lump formed in Richie’s throat.
Everything suits Eddie. Richie had thought. lizard brain her head quickly followed.
The part that hurt the most was that she knew that Eddie really did love her. Every smile and laugh and eye roll that was sent her way was so earnestly filled with tenderness. Love, just not in the way the Richie so desperately wanted. it should be perfect but it’s not. She should have kissed her, but she couldn’t. She wanted so much that it made her bones ache and her stomach churn.

Summary
Having just completed a mission that required multiple miracles, Bradley thinks the most miraculous thing of all is that he’s not furious at Maverick anymore. Or Hangman. Now that his relationship with Maverick is on the mend after talking about their past, Bradley starts to realize some other things. Like the fact that Hangman isn't such a bad guy and he maybe actually really likes him, like, a lot. Jake, meanwhile, starts to realize that Bradley may not, in fact, hate him for being an ass, while also trying to hide the fact that he’s been in love with Rooster for years. Without the anger characterizing every interaction, Bradley and Jake are left with the conclusion that there's more there that they hadn’t realized until now. But, as Bradley and Jake's icy relationship unexpectedly begins to thaw into a tentative friendship, the friction that existed between them sparks something deeper than they ever expected. Letting go of the past and respective fears is harder than they thought, but when it comes down to it, the question remains: will they have the courage to leap off their perches and take the shot?

He could tell him about how the idea of getting a plane, even a commercial one, still makes his blood buzz in the most uncomfortable way, even after all these months. He could tell him about how, when his mom died, she told him to see the world and he hasn’t even been able to see America, except through Navy-mandated stations. He could retract his offer right now, say he’s actually not sure and doesn’t want to spend three months of his life with his ex. He could tell Jake he loves him, still loves him, and beg him to love him back just the same.
He says none of that. Instead, he says, “I’d go anywhere with you, Jake. You know that.”
